The headline answer to “what does Notion AI cost” is uncomfortable for anyone budgeting at $10 a seat: Notion AI is not on Plus. Both Free and Plus list “Trial of Notion AI” — a trial, not a feature. The first tier where AI is a real product line is Business at $20 per member per month on annual billing, $24 monthly.

Business is also where the rest of the security tier begins: SAML SSO, granular database permissions, private teamspaces, and domain verification all start there. The AI tier and the enterprise-security tier are the same tier — there is no cheap AI-only upgrade.
The credits line nobody quotes
The page describes custom agents as “free to try, then $10 per 1,000 monthly Notion credits,” and the feature matrix marks Custom Agents as “Requires Notion credits” on all four tiers, including Enterprise.
Two consequences. First, agent usage scales independently of your seat count — a 10-person team running agents heavily can spend more on credits than on seats. Second, there is no seat-based ceiling on it, so it does not appear in any per-user cost calculation.
What else changes at $20
Business is not only about AI. Also new at this tier: unlimited dashboards and advanced cards, Enterprise Search across connected apps like Slack and GitHub, and the permission controls (granular database permissions, verified pages, private teamspaces) that make Notion usable for regulated work.
If AI is not the reason you’re on Notion, Plus at $10 is the rational stopping point — it removes the block limit, the 5 MB upload cap, and adds custom forms and sites, charts, and unlimited file uploads.
For teams comparing AI-inclusive pricing
Worth knowing when you benchmark against other tools in this category: Notion is not the cheapest place to get AI included with a seat. In our own October 2026 pricing checks, monday.com lists 1,000 AI credits on its $9 Basic tier, ClickUp lists AI from $7, and Asana includes 50,000 AI Studio credits at $10.99 per user. Verdict
Notion AI costs $20 per member per month, because that is where AI starts. Anyone pricing Notion at $10 and expecting AI included is off by a factor of two. Budget for the seat, and separately for agent credits if you intend to run agents.
