The short version

Editorial overview — a terms-level check. Everything below was verified against Typeform’s own published pages and documents (plus named third-party sources, with dates) on 2026-09-06 and re-checked 2026-09-26; no account was created and nothing was submitted through a live form, so there is no hands-on claim and no star rating on this page. For plan prices and the response-meter mechanics specifically, see Typeform pricing.

Typeform invented the conversational, one-question-per-screen form format back in 2012 and still sets the bar for presentation. If you’re running lead gen forms, brand surveys, or customer research where completion rate and brand impression matter, it’s worth the premium. If you just need a functional form builder for internal use or high-volume collection, cheaper alternatives like Tally or Google Forms will serve you better.

Who it’s for: Marketing teams, brand-led startups, UX researchers, and anyone whose form is part of a customer-facing experience.

Who it’s not for: Teams on a budget, high-volume use cases (thousands of responses/month), or anyone who needs white-label forms without paying Enterprise prices.

Pricing: the response cap is everything

Typeform prices by monthly response volume, not by features. Every form you create shares the same response pool — so a single popular form can eat your entire monthly quota.

Prices below are page text from our 2026-09-26 re-capture of the official pricing page in both billing states (yearly and monthly). Note that our 2026-09-06 and 2026-09-14 captures found the same cards hiding their digits behind a client-side component — the render state on this page has changed twice this month, so treat every figure as dated. Details in our Typeform pricing piece.

*Free-tier cap, historical value: The “10 responses/mo” figure is what we captured on 2026-09-06 and from third-party sources. A re-check of typeform.com/pricing on 2026-09-14 — and again on 2026-09-26 — found the live Free card no longer prints a number — it says only “a limited number of responses per month.” See our Typeform pricing deep-dive for what the current page does and does not render.

The pricing gotchas

  1. Shared response pool. If you have 5 forms and one gets 90 responses, you only have 10 left for everything else on the Basic plan.
  2. Free tier is a demo. Our 2026-09-06 capture showed 10 responses/month; the current page no longer publishes a number (“a limited number of responses per month”). Either way, it is enough to test the product, not to actually use it.
  3. Custom domain = Enterprise. Even on the 91 USD/mo Business plan, you can’t use your own domain — that’s Enterprise-only.
  4. Branding removal starts at Plus. The 28 USD/mo Basic plan still shows Typeform branding on every form.

What Typeform does well

1. The conversational UX actually works

Typeform’s signature one-question-per-screen format with smooth slide transitions isn’t just aesthetics. Multiple third-party reviews and Typeform’s own case studies report 2–3.5x higher completion rates compared to traditional long-form surveys. The “just one more question” feeling keeps people going.

2. AI form creation

Typeform’s AI builder generates complete forms from a text prompt. Tell it “create a customer satisfaction survey for a SaaS company with 10 questions including NPS” and it builds the whole thing — questions, logic, and even design. You can then edit anything manually.

3. Strong logic and calculation capabilities

  • Logic jumps — show or hide questions based on previous answers
  • Calculations — compute scores, prices, or totals from responses
  • Hidden fields — pass data via URL parameters (UTMs, user IDs, etc.)
  • Multiple ending screens — show different results based on responses
  • Answer piping — insert previous answers into question text

This covers 80% of what most teams need. For truly complex multi-level branching, Jotform has more depth, but Typeform’s interface is simpler to work with.

4. Integration ecosystem

100+ native integrations including:

  • CRM: HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive
  • Productivity: Google Sheets, Slack, Notion, Airtable
  • Marketing: Mailchimp, ConvertKit, ActiveCampaign
  • Payments: Stripe
  • Scheduling: Calendly
  • Automation: Zapier, Make

The native integration list is broader than most competitors, and the Zapier/Make integration covers anything else.

5. Brand recognition

This is intangible but real. Respondents recognize the Typeform format — it signals “this is a real company that put effort into this.” For high-stakes funnels (paid traffic, B2B demo requests, premium surveys), that brand halo can improve conversion.

Where Typeform falls short

1. Value for money

This is the universal complaint across every third-party review we checked. At 28 USD/mo for just 100 responses (and no branding removal), Typeform is expensive for what you get. Tally’s free plan gives you unlimited responses with most of the same core features.

2. Rigid design system

Typeform looks great — but it looks like Typeform. You can customize colors, add a logo, and pick from templates, but the fundamental layout and transition style are fixed. If you want a form that truly matches your brand’s design system (custom layouts, multi-column, different interaction patterns), you’ll be fighting the platform.

3. Enterprise-level features at Enterprise prices

Custom domains, custom fonts, SSO, and advanced security are all locked behind the Enterprise tier. For a product that positions itself as premium, it’s surprising that even the 91 USD/mo Business plan doesn’t include custom domains.

4. No database / table view

Typeform collects responses well, but it doesn’t have a built-in database or table view like some newer competitors (Tally with its Tally Tables, Airtable forms, Notion forms). If you need to manage response data in the same tool, you’ll need to export to Google Sheets or Airtable.

Bottom line

Typeform is the best-looking form builder on the market, and its conversational format genuinely drives better completion rates. If your form is customer-facing and completion rate matters more than cost, it’s worth every penny.

If you’re budget-conscious or need high volume, Tally’s free tier gives you 90% of the functionality for $0. We tested Tally end to end in our hands-on Tally review and found it covers everything most small teams need. Typeform itself we read from official documentation only — we did not create an account.

Our recommendation: Start with Tally for free. If you outgrow it and need that polished Typeform experience for customer-facing forms, upgrade then — you’ll know exactly what you’re paying for.
